FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know to start racing with AVMX
What is AVMX?
AVMX (Alberta Vet Motocross) formerly AOTMX (Alberta Oldtimers Motocross) are family-friendly motocross clubs that host races across Alberta from April through October. We focus on building community, friendly competition, and getting more people—young and old—on dirt bikes. Our events run every second weekend and are open to all ages and skill levels, from first-timers to veteran rippers.
Who can join the club or race?
Anyone!
We welcome riders:
-
- Ages 4 and up (with parental consent for minors).
- On all makes and sizes of motocross bikes.
- Of all skill levels—We offer Novice, Intermediate, & Expert classes.
- Who want to race competitively or just ride for fun.
- Check out our Event & Race Class Information here
How do I join the club and race?
You’ll need:
-
- A RaceReady account (our all-in-one platform for membership, registration, and scoring).
- An active AVMX membership;
- Day passes are also available.
- To sign up for each event you want to race through RaceReady.
All sign-ups, payments, and scoring are handled digitally.
What is RaceReady and why do I need it?
RaceReady is our online platform for:
-
- Buying your club membership.
- Registering for race weekends.
- Paying fees (race entries, second classes, facility fees).
- Live lap timing, scoring, and results.
Without a RaceReady account, you can’t sign up or be scored.
How do I register for a race?
Once your account is created:
-
- Log into RaceReady.
- Purchase or confirm your membership.
- Select the race you want to attend from the schedule.
- Choose your classes (e.g., 85cc, Ladies A, +30 Intermediate).
- Pay online before Friday night race weekend.
- Registration is also available on-site Saturday / Sunday morning until 8:30am.
Avoid long lineups by registering online!
How are races timed and scored?
We use RFID helmet transponders to track laps and timing live. These tags are small stickers placed on the underside of your helmet visor (or behind your front number plate if needed).
When you cross the timing zone, your lap is instantly recorded. This allows us to post live results and update points automatically.
How do I properly apply my RFID transponder?
Follow these steps:
-
- Place the tag flat on the inside of your visor, lengthwise and as far forward as possible.
- Avoid folds, creases, or placing it over carbon fiber or sharp bends.
- Do not reuse tags once removed—replacements are available at the track.
An incorrectly placed or damaged tag may prevent your laps from being counted.
Do I need to buy the RFID tag?
Yes, you will need to purchase a tag ($10) with your first race registration. If you lose or damage it, you can buy a new one at the sign-in table. Don’t worry, they don’t expire for a full season (1 year).
Where can I see my lap times and results?
Live timing and full results are available at racereadyapp.com/live.
Just select our event and look up your class or name.
What if I’m not showing up in the results or there’s a scoring error?
-
- First, double-check your RaceReady profile: bike number, name, and class must be correct.
- Let the race day staff know immediately.
- You have 1 hour after the results are posted to report any scoring issues.
Can I race more than one class?
Yes! Many riders enter two or more classes (e.g., +40 exp., GP A).
-
- The GP classes are great for a second class or any a 2nd class below your age.
You’ll need to register and pay for each class separately in RaceReady.
Are second classes scored?
Yes, second classes are fully scored and tracked for points, just like your primary class. They’re a great way to get more seat time and experience.
What do I need to bring on race day?
-
- Helmet with RFID transponder applied.
- Proper motocross safety gear (helmet, boots, goggles, etc.).
- RaceReady registration completed.
- Water, tools, and spare gear.
- Cash or Debit (Some facilities may have on-site concessions).
Can I sign up at the track?
We strongly encourage pre-registering online. We do have on-site registration on Saturday & Sunday morning until 8:30am (typically opens 7:30am – 8:00am).
Weekend memberships are available online this year along with the on-site registration on Saturday & Sunday.
How busy the lineup will be depends on how many weekend memberships and RFID tags are being purchased so if you want to avoid line ups your best to register online before race day.
Can I manage multiple family members under one account?
Yes. RaceReady supports family accounts. You can add multiple riders (e.g.,Dependants, partners) under one login and manage all memberships and race entries from a single dashboard.
Note: Dependants must be minors, once they are 18 years of age they will require their own membership.
Is there a schedule of events?
Yes! We race every second weekend, rotating across Alberta’s best tracks. The full schedule is available on our website’s homepage and posted in RaceReady.
Are results posted after each race weekend?
Yes. Results and season points standings are updated on RaceReady, This typically happens instantly after the moto has finished.
